1980 United States Mint Proof Set

This 1980 United States Proof Set contains six specially produced proof coins from the United States Mint. The coins feature sharp details and highly reflective surfaces created specifically for collectors rather than normal circulation.

The set includes a 1980 Susan B. Anthony Dollar, Kennedy Half Dollar, Washington Quarter, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel and Lincoln Cent. The coins are displayed together in the original style presentation holder with the red interior shown in the photos.

The 1980 Proof Set represents an interesting period in American coinage. The Susan B. Anthony Dollar had been introduced just one year earlier in 1979 as the first circulating United States coin to feature a real historical woman as its primary subject. Anthony was a major figure in the American women's suffrage movement and spent decades advocating for women's voting rights.

The Kennedy Half Dollar was originally introduced in 1964 following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. By 1980, the coin was no longer made from silver for regular proof sets, but the Kennedy design remained one of the most recognizable American coins of the twentieth century.
