  These 4 opals come from Mexico. Only 1% of the opals in the world are from Mexico. Most Mexican opals are mistakenly called ´Fire´ opals because of the play on colors they display. Fire opals are dark, usually solid tone gems, mostly orange, red and yellow, these do not have any play on color. These opals up for auction are:

  
  

  Wonderful yellow crystal opal, still partly attached to its host rock. It has amazing play on color. Colors include greens, blues, reds and  oranges. The base color is partly yellow, orange, white. It has a "beta" which is a different base color near the host rock, this beta is dark, almost purple.                                                                   Size:  .9" x .3" x .4" Inches

  
  

  Orange crystal opal. It is a great drop-like stone. It was very difficult to capture the play on color, but its has an always present wide range of colors including purple, blues, greens, yellows, reds and oranges. Perfect for a ring.

  Mexican Fire Opal. It has a Deep orange color, an almost perfect cut. It may not have the sought for play-on-color, but non the less it is a beautiful gemstone, with a unique and amazing orange tone.

  Crystal opal, polished directly inside its host stone. It has a perfect shape for a pendant. In an unlit place it might look like glass, but when any form of light hits the stone, there are amazing play on color. With electric greens, powerful reds and oranges and some blues and purple.
