1977 Slick Craft **$29,000 Value**

This 30 foot 1977 Slick Craft fiberglass salt water sail boat with large keel is located in the Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33311 area. Winning bidder is responsible for pickup. Slick Craft is currently in salt water, Hull is fiberglass,

This item ran 1 year ago when it was seized.  Key availability is unknown; boat is locked.

This item was inspected on June 15th 2007 by an accredited Marine Surveyor. The following information was taken from the surveyor's report:

  • Bottom, Rudder & Running Gear: Bottom was sounded with percussion hammer & was tested with a GE Aquant Digital moisture meter.  No cracks or visible signs of osmosis.  No delamination & meter reading were unremarkable.
  • Keel: Lead & showed old repairs on the STBD side.  No action required.
  • Strut: Tested with rubber mallet, found to be solid.
  • Cutlass Bearing: New Condition
  • Rudder: SKEG hung with no separation.  Meter levels were slightly elevated but no action is required.
  • Props: 14" LH 8 Pitch in very good condition.  Prop is correctly secured with 2 nuts & a cotter pin through the shaft.
  • Topside: 2 or 3 old repairs, numerous scuffs
  • Transom: A few old repairs & a chip port of the centerline
  • Cockpit: Cockpit floor was sounded and moisture levels were checked.  No separation was found but meter readings were elevated aft of the binnacle
  • Deck: Tested with sounding hammer and moisture levels were checked.  STBD side separation was evident from the mid shroud to 6" FWD of the FWD shroud.  PORT side deck has separation from the aft shroud to 16" in front of the FWD shroud.  Meter readings indicate incursion of moisture.
  • Anchor: Approximately 33 lbs.  in new condition
  • 20 gallon fuel tank (shut off at tank, filled from deck, vented to atmosphere, tank vents screened)
  • No indication of interior leaks in hull to deck joint
  • Interior floors and frames in good condition
  • No damage or water stains to interior bulkheads
  • Masts & Rigging functional; furling NOT tested, Sails NOT inspected

At time of inspection surveyor found these items not up to code:
    • Fuel fill is not grounded (according to regulations all components of fuel fill & fuel system be grounded so there is less than 1 OHM resistance).

At time of inspection surveyor found these items, while not of vital importance, up for serious consideration as they do not meet voluntary standards set by American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) or the National Fire Protection Association:
      • FWD of the engine 2 or 3 twist wire connectors have been used.
      • No smoke or CO detectors are installed on vessel.
      • There is no fire fighting system installed and there is no fire port installed.
At time of inspection surveyor found these items to require attention only for cosmetic, general upkeep, or maintenance purposes:
        • Meter readings were elevated aft of the binnacle. Area should be monitored & hardware could be rebedded to prevent moisture entering the sole.
        • Separation found on STBD and PORT side (as stated above).  Moisture reading indicate incursion of moisture.  Side decks should be monitored yearly to ensure the moisture does not spread.  The chain plates could be resealed.
        • There are some cosmetic/stress cracks at the aft area where the deck hatch is located.  Any crack can allow the incursion of water over time.  Cosmetic cracks can be sealed using a product such as "Captain Tolly's Creeping Crack Cure."

As a summation, the surveyor found that "This vessel is well maintained for its age & requires little work."  It was given an overall rating of Average, and its value was accessed at $29,000.
