Reproduction Boy on Trapeze Acrobat Cast Iron Mechanical Coin Bank Vintage Style

Vintage-style cast iron mechanical coin bank, reproduced from the classic late-19th-century Boy on Trapeze / Acrobat Bank design.

The bank depicts a young acrobat balancing with one foot on a red ball between two decorative upright supports. The figure is painted in an orange shirt with blue trousers and cuffs, while the ornate cast-iron base is finished in brown. The base features pierced decorative panels, scrollwork and floral-style casting.

The original Boy on Trapeze mechanical bank dates to approximately 1888 and was manufactured by J. Barton Smith Co. of Philadelphia. In the original design, a coin placed into the figure activated the acrobat, causing him to rotate/somersault around the horizontal bar and deposit the coin into the base.

This example is being sold specifically as a later reproduction, not as an original 19th-century bank. Reproductions of the Acrobat/Boy on Trapeze banks are known in the collector market.
