This 1956 Lincoln Wheat Cent comes encapsulated in the CoinHub holder shown in the photos. The Lincoln Wheat Cent is one of the most recognizable and widely collected classic U.S. coins.

The Wheat Cent was introduced in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. Designed by Victor David Brenner, it was the first regular issue U.S. coin to feature a real historical person as its primary portrait.

The reverse features two wheat stalks surrounding the words ONE CENT and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This classic design remained in use through 1958. In 1959, the U.S. Mint replaced the wheat reverse with the Lincoln Memorial design to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.

The 1956 issue comes from near the end of the Wheat Cent series, making it a great example for collectors interested in the final years of this historic design.
