Description

VERY RARE: Tribe of Gad- Salvador Dali Bronze Tombac Medal (Only 2,250 produced!)

State Medal 1995

"The entire series 'Twelve Tribes' is important to the State of Israel and to Jewish history.  These medals are a must for any considered collection."  - TCA

The "Tribe of Gad" medal is the seventh in the series depicting the Twelve Tribes, created by Salvador Dali in honor of Israel's 25th anniversary. The establishment of the Jewish State and revival of the people after 2000 years of exile, inspired Dali to create a number of works connected with Judaism and Zionism.

The Tribe of Gad is portrayed in Dali's painting as a camp of tents Shab Dali blesses Jacob and Gad.

"Gad is a battalion of our battalion and he will be a heel".  (Genesis 9:11).

Gad's battalions are described as a tent camp spread over a vast area.
