Apple iPod Photo, 4th Gen, 60 GBApple iPod Photo, 4th Gen, 60 GB

This 4th generation Apple iPod Photo was discontinued by its manufacturer, which makes it a rare one to find. Not only that, but it is New In Box – even more rare! Earlier iPods, especially those in new condition, are becoming more collectible. iPods were not the sort of item someone would own and not use, stripping them of their ‘new in box’ or ‘mint’ status.

Apple iPod Photo U2 Special Edition, 4th Gen, 20GBApple iPod Photo U2 Special Edition, 4th Gen, 20GB

This iPod is high on a lot of collector’s lists. It is a discontinued Apple iPod Photo U2 Special Edition, 4th Generation. Not only is this one brand new, in the box, it is the older of the two U2 editions that Apple put out. Marking one of the first iPod collaborations, this one touts a special edition case, black front, red clickwheel, and stainless steel back with laser etched signatures of the U2 band members. Perfect for the Apple collector or U2 fan.

We see a lot of interesting things come through our doors, but sometimes even we miss something. Looking back at some of our past auctions, we came across a lot of seemingly normal iPods. What we missed (but the winning bidder sure got a deal on) was a rare, Developer iPod paired with standard iPod classic. You can tell by the model “DVT 1.” These types of prototypes are not normally publicly available, but in our business, you never know what you’re going to find. What’s exciting about this one is who knows what it is really. Did it possess different specs that don’t exist? A different interface? Loaded with functionality that never went to market? Non-functional? Who knows! No matter what, this was definitely a steal for this winning bidder.
