Montblanc Yehudi Menuhin Fountain Pen Donation Series 2000. Black resin with gold plated fittings, medium nib in 18K gold with rhodium inlay.

Yehudi Menuhin, Baron Menuhin OM KBE was an American-born violinist and conductor, who spent most of his performing career in Britain. He is widely considered one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century.

Whichever of his passion Yehudi Menuhin pursued ? performing or conducting ? every note of his music was a gift to mankind. Through his music he succeeded in inspiring people all over the world ? with the spirit of joy, hope and international understanding. This great gift was one of the reasons for the recognition and honour that he received worldwide.

This Donation Pen was created as a token of respect for Yehudi Menuhin and his life?s work. This pen, with its loving details, is as unforgettable as it is unique. As a tribute to the virtuosity of the violinist, the gold-plated clip symbolizes the neck of a violin with its scroll. GERMANY Pix is engraved on underside of clip. The delicately engraved ring around the cap of the pen carries his signature along with ~ MONTBLANC~ in gold lettering, between two gold plated bands. A delicate engraving of a dove decorates the rhodium-plated 18K gold nib.

Pen is a piston fill, only suitable for filling from an ink bottle.

Pen measures 5.5/8 inches (14.5 cms) long with cap attached. Cap posted: 6.3/8 inches (16.4 cms). Cap diameter 0.61ins (15.5) mm. Weight: 28.7 grams.

Hand crafted 18 carat gold nib with a pattern of a dove delicately engraved and rhodium plated. 4810 is engraved, along with encircled Montblanc star, '18K - 750' and 'MONTBLANC' are also engraved. Nib tip size is medium.

Service

Pen has undergone a full service. Disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned to remove traces of old ink. Piston seal and piston operation checked for good vacuum seal. Nib and feed removed from section, cleaned, polished and reset. Pen barrel and cap delicately hand polished. Write tested and finally flushed with clean water.

General Condition

Pen barrel and cap are in as new condition, free from scratches, with no dents, cracks or hairlines. There are no personalization. Gold plating to clip and trim is unworn. No evidence of ware to rhodium plating on gold nib. Cap to barrel screw threads are firm and positive. Piston filling system is smooth, drawing a full barrel of ink. We would classify this pen as being in very excellent condition.
