Scarce Gold-plated 1883 no-cents Racketeer (gold plated) Liberty V Nickel to add to your collection! When the US Government first issued Liberty V Nickels in 1883, they neglected to put the word Cents on it - allowing for clever con artists to gold-plate them, and successfully pass these new, relatively unknown coins off to merchants as $5 gold pieces. The government swiftly corrected the nickels, adding the word Cents to the reverse. This makes the Racketeer Nickel not only a super collectors item, but a great conversation piece for any collection! You get the one pictured.
