Norman Bermudez, born in Caracas - Venezuela on September 1953. Since childhood shows a strong inclination towards painting. During elementary school had a predilection for drawing classes in which made his first landscapes. Throughout his teens continues to develop self-taught techniques, acquired his first artist tools and created his first painting in an impressionist art style, in which predominate the use of bright colors, ranges from green, yellow and blue.
In 1989 studies in the School of Fine Arts in that city, acquiring some techniques and experiments with new material such as clay, matter that he considerate the most primitive tool used by mankind to communicate, and with which he identifies himself greatly.
For this reason, begins to work in the production of utilitarian pottery, shaped by hand without the use of lathe. Later on, initiates an investigation process of techniques for the construction of slabs of clay for murals and the manufacture of large pieces, applying these skills on his works.
Mr. Bermudez studies and develops the techniques of: Elaine Katzer (ceramic murals),Sy Shames (Ceramic expert), Elizabeth McDonald (Ceramic expert), Dona Nicholson(Ceramic expert), Susan Wechsler (Ceramic expert), Billie Walters (Ceramic expert), Mikhail Zakin (Ceramic expert).
In his works of clay, manifests mixed technique characterized by the development of hand-shaped pieces and burnt, presented over wood on fragmented compositions or amalgamated forming a whole, and achieving his own style where the three dimensions are managed.Color is a vital element in his work, allowing him to give life to his characters, giving them personality, volume and texture. His technique and momentum forces him to paint using acrylic or fast drying base. Some works appear metallic nature, in others, the bright colors or strong contrasts denote joy, strength, vitality, and in others the color invade the background wood which not only serve as a base, but provides a complement to the theme of the work . His work denotes the preference for the human form; predominantly expressions of peculiar faces with one eye, exuberant women, and molded horses forms characterized by agility, elegance, nobility, gentleness, of these animals.
In 2009 –2010, returns to canvas works with acrylic using great color and expression and in an abstract-figurative style, medium to large formats. With this new collection, in 2011, began to make inroads in the city of Miami, where he exhibited for the first time in R.G. Zamora Fine Arts (Private Art Gallery) and in Corpus Christ Catholic Church during the concert "A Chamber Music Night" event sponsored by Stimulus Art Foundation.
